Zwift Ride without a subscription?

I'm new to road cycling and want to upgrade for winter.

It's a good idea that Zwift is launching a complete package with Zwift Ride. I have a gravel bike and a road bike, but I'd rather keep both in the basement, ready for a ride, and not constantly have to connect/unconnect them to a smart trainer.

My question: Can I use the system without a Zwift subscription? So, for example, I can ride based on my heart rate and simply increase and decrease the resistance as needed?

And if I see it correctly, the device also has a built-in watt meter. How can I display this without a Zwift subscription?

I’ll make sure things are only suitable with Zwift-Abo

The button sound at the handlebar probably. However, the trainer uses the standard ANT+FE-C or BTLE-FTMS protocol.

If, like me, the trainer is normally used in ERG mode, the unusable buttons are not a problem.

whether the really usable with any x-popular smart trainer and app I dare to doubt

simply because they already say that the smart trainer needs Zwift certification and if I can’t at least use the switching and braking function, then things also use me nix…

You’ll have to use some app. MyWhoosh is free (at least at the moment).
