Reliable cars between 10-15,000€?
Hello, I recently turned 18, passed my driver's license, and am now looking for a reliable compact car/sedan for a maximum of €15,000. The car should have a diesel engine, an automatic transmission is a must for me, and it should have a maximum of 170,000 km on the clock and be no older than 8 years.
I'll have to drive 80 km a day by car, as my school is far from where I live. I'd then be driving the car for about two years.
My top favorite is the 2015 A Class with the 200cc diesel engine. I took a test drive and was impressed. I've already asked about problems in all the forums, but it's described as a long-distance runner.
I'd like to compare it to one or two other cars, but I can't think of any right now. I really liked the 2018 Suzuki Swift, but unfortunately, it's only available as a petrol engine.
I would be grateful for your answers and experiences 🙂
Good, reliable cars in this class and with these data are:
VW Golf (that would be my personal favorite among price/performance points)
Audi A3
Seat Leon
Skoda Octavia
Opel Astra (which should be the cheapest among the recommended cars)
Toyota Auris / Corolla (that would be my personal favorites under cost points if I would not have to pay the expensive insurance myself)
Mazda 3 (that would be my personal favorite among quality points)
Subaru Impreza (that would be my personal favorite if I wanted to have something less everyday)
Hyundai i30
Kia Ceed
A very good quality car that was not built with diesel engine (as far as I know) is the Lexus CT 200.
The qualitatively surprisingly good Fiat Tipo is not available automatically as a diesel.
For quality reasons, the Citroen C4, Peugeot 308, Renault Megane.
The Honda Civic is, unfortunately, only moderate. The Ford Focus, too.
The 1st BMW has a good reputation, but unfortunately it is about the durability of the BMW engines no longer ordered as well as 20 years ago, and repairs go very well into money.
You could also watch the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross. Is a compact SUV, but very good quality, and is considered economical.
The Mercedes A-Class mentioned by you is also a good choice – but for what the car offers is overpriced.
Selection enough?
Hi, thanks for the helpful answer, I didn’t expect that there was so much choice. I will then add the Lexus ct200, Subaru Impreza and the kia ceed to the comparison.
How does it look with the reperatures at the Lexus / Subaru, there are dealers in Germany or only contract workshop, there is a lack of spare parts?
Lexus: No problem, because mass technology of Toyota, made only more beautiful. Lexus is the Nobel brand of the Toyota Group. Any Toyota workshop can help.
Subaru: can be a little problematic in rural areas, as in Germany quite exotic. For example, it is more widespread in Switzerland.
Seat Leon 2.0 TDI FR
