Took too strong ibuprofen?

Hey people

I (14) had a bad migraine last night, which is why I took an ibuprofen. Instead of the 400, I accidentally took a 600. Now I've had stomach cramps now and then and wanted to ask if it's still bad, since ibuprofen 600 is only for people over 15.

thanks in advance

This is absolutely not tragic, especially since it was just a one-time mistake. It can be at most that you get mild digestive problems, such as heartburn, abdominal pain or nausea, but otherwise nothing will happen to you.

Ibuprofen can stimulate gastric acid production, but this is unproblematic if you have a healthy stomach mucosa. You’ll probably have it too:)

600 mg are also therapeutically applicable as a single dose, but not necessarily for migraine.

If you have a confirmed migraine, you could talk to your doctor about the application of triptans. They can especially help with migraines. If Ibus doesn’t work so well, you can try Paracetamol. It doesn’t hit the stomach either.

Eat something spicy like oat slum or drink a glass of baking powder if you have sodburn.

in migraine, ibuprofen does not actually help at all. 600mg are harmless if you don’t take them like smarties.

That’s not true. Ibuprofen works very well against migraines in most people. Possibly that it doesn’t work well with you, but that doesn’t mean it’s generally like that.

It doesn’t help me, and my doctor said it wasn’t used in migraines. As far as I know, Ibuprofen does not extend the blood vessels constricted by the migraines. I’m just helping some triptans. I’ll take Sumatriptan.

In very extreme cases, ibuprofen is naturally too weak, in such cases there are triptans, but most people with light to medium-strength migraines help ibuprofen very well and is also very often used for this purpose.

Jo, stomach irritations can occur by active substances such as ibuprofen.
