Zahnmedizin studieren und dann Praxis vom Vater übernehmen?
Hallo zusammen,
mein Vater ist Zahnarzt mit eigener Praxis, allerdings hat mich der Beruf bzw. die Zahnmedizin bisher nie wirklich interessiert, aber ich muss auch dazusagen, dass ich mich nie explizit damit auseinandergesetzt habe.
Seit so 2-3 Monaten ist mein Interesse daran aber irgendwie gewachsen, insbesondere weil ich das Studium echt interessant finde! Falls ich dieses Studium angehe hätte ich ja rein unternehmerisch gesehen auch eine sehr gute Ausgangslage, weil ich jemanden aus erster Hand habe der mir im Notfall Ratschläge geben kann & dessen Praxis ich übernehmen *könnte*!
Einen richtig festen beruflichen Plan, den ich einfach so umsetzen könnte habe ich derzeit sowieso nicht richtig, deshalb nun meine Frage:
Wie würdet ihr an meiner Stelle handeln, Zahnmedizin aufgrund der guten beruflichen Chancen und des langsam wachsenden Interesses studieren oder lieber erstmal noch andere Berufe anschauen?

You must know that best. You have to listen to your guts! Consider that your decision doesn’t have to be final, you can start dental studies (if your NC is good enough) and see how you like it and then still start something else. There are also many self-tests, pacifier days where you can find out if a study is suitable for you and what profession suits you. Do your decision, however, not only because of professional opportunities! It’s supposed to be fun, and you always have to remember that you probably have to do this job for the next 30-40 years… I think your decision should be taken.
Another point you need to consider is whether it really is a practice to guide you. This is a lot of work and also requires some entrepreneurial understanding and not just medical expertise…
With regard to the practice management, I am very confident that I can. I have received a lot of my father every day and I am also very interested in finance and entrepreneurship in leisure. But yes, I will definitely rethink for a longer time because, as you say, this activity is carried out for 30-40 years every day. Thank you for the answer!
Then just ask yourself if your school notes give you a chance to study dentistry. I can imagine that the notes aren’t enough – are they?
My cut is in the 1st – range, but not in the 1.0-1,1 that are often required. But there are still some options to “transform” with the medical test.
