Gingivitis, when will it improve?

Hello,

Pus has formed in the pocket behind my last tooth, and it's so swollen that swallowing is painful. It started on Sunday, and yesterday I went to the dentist. He cleaned the pocket and applied ointment. I was prescribed antibiotics, but I just woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat and in severe pain again. The swelling hasn't gone down yet.

Has anyone ever had this and knows when something like this gets better, when the swelling goes down and the pain gets better?

Hello! Any prognosis would be inconsistent, but it remains first to wait to see if the problem is at all falling down, what time needs

At home, anti-inflammatory agents like chlorhexamed may help you maybe you need a painkiller temporarily

In case of doubt, just look past the doctor or first call

I wish you better.

I had this too, and my dentist smashed me an antibiotic ointment right into my pocket and then the next day he was all right again. I think it can take a few days. Such an inflammation is sometimes stubborn. You were there yesterday, so wait a second.

The antibiotic usually acts only after about 36 hours. Then the swelling should disappear slowly. If you have pain, then take an ibuprofen (also cool the cheek can help) and try to keep the area embarrassingly clean. After eating, besides chlorhexamed, you can rinse with sage or camel tea. Good improvement.

A “normal” mouthwashing doesn’t bring anything. It is also possible that it burns strongly. Sage and chamomile have an antibacterial effect. Don’t eat much and help.
