Gums have been hurting for days but are not inflamed?
Hello, about me: I am female and 22 years old.
Now to my problem.
I have had pain in my gums for almost 6 days (backmost molar on the left inside and at the very back where my wisdom tooth used to be and between the last and second to last molar).
It's not inflamed, it's not red, it's not bleeding, and it's not swollen. It doesn't bother me, but it hurts when I press hard against it with my tongue or brush over it with a toothbrush. I have the same problem on my right, but not nearly as severe.
The pain has improved and I only really notice it when I brush or press hard with my tongue.
About 2 or 3 weeks ago I had a check-up with the dentist and he said that everything was fine (there were some bleeding in some places, she told me to floss more often).
Since then, I've been flossing every night (I used waxed floss because my spaces are very tight, but now I use regular floss to help me get the dirt out). I've had this pain for almost a week now. It's gotten better (significantly), but I still notice it. Strangely, it doesn't hurt at all after eating; it only starts again hours later.
At first I thought I had irritated my gums, which is why I've been eating less hard and spicy food these last few days, but it doesn't help.
I brush twice a day for 3 minutes with a super-soft toothbrush because my gums are very sensitive, then I floss (only in the evening) and then use mouthwash.
I've been doing this since my checkup, and before that, nothing was wrong, but now my gums hurt. They're not bleeding, they're not swollen, and they're not red either; it looks completely normal. I drink chamomile tea every day, which is supposed to help. I've dabbed healing oil on them and even bought a mouth healing gel from DM, which I apply twice a day. However, there's been no improvement.
Since I've had this, I've been playing around with my tongue up there to test whether it's gone. Could that be the cause?
I have been using the same toothpaste and mouthwash for months (both for sensitive teeth and to prevent gum inflammation)
That's why I don't understand why I'm having these symptoms. When I google it, they tell me I have gingivitis, but there's nothing wrong with it, and I brush thoroughly.
I've been to the dentist twice this year because I always worry too much and don't want to go back after two weeks and get nervous and end up with "there's nothing there, everything's fine."
I trust my doctor; I've known her since I was little. But I'm still worried it's something, even though I brush thoroughly and everything.
As I said, it doesn't affect my everyday life, it's just annoying to know that it's there. I notice it every time I press hard against it or brush over it.
Has anyone of you ever had this problem and can help me? I really don't know what to do anymore.
