Würdet ihr mir ein Kindle empfehlen (Preise)?

Hallo, ich könnte mir heute relativ günstig ein Kindle kaufen und war sowieso am Überlegen gewesen, mir einen E-book Reader zuzulegen.

Jetzt ist eine Frage die ich habe: Lohnt sich das? Denn die Preise von Ebooks sind ja gestiegen und wenn ich teilweise die Preise sehe, denke ich mir ich könnte mir gleich das physische Buch kaufen.

Es wäre einfach praktisch und handlicher einen Ebook Reader zu haben, besonders wenn ich mit dem Zug fahre.

Außerdem finde ich keine konkreten Preise, über Amazon oder der Kindle App auf dem Handy, für Ebooks. Also bin ich mir unsicher wie viel sie kosten.

Ich lese meist auf englisch, falls das irgendwas an den Preisen verändert.

Wenn ein E-book auch mal 5-8€ kostet ist nicht schlimm, finde ich. Wenn es aber halt viele Seiten hat oder das physische Buch auch etwas teurer ist. Aber so Preise wie 10-14€ finde ich krass.

Würdet ihr mir also einen Kindle E-book Reader empfehlen oder denkt ihr ich sollte weiter normale Bücher kaufen? Was sind so typische Preise die ihr bezahlt? Benutzt ihr Kindle unlimited und was haltet ihr davon?

You don’t buy an eReader to save money. He is an alternative to a bound book. The right arguments you call yourself:

It would simply be convenient and more handy to have an Ebook reader, especially when I drive by train.

Besides, I don’t find any specific prices, about Amazon or the Kindle app on the phone, for Ebooks. So I’m not sure how much they cost.

The prices are always there and cannot be overlooked.

I usually read in English if it changes anything at the prices.

Books in English are not subject to book price binding and are usually somewhat cheaper. Especially Amazon has many foreign works on offer.

If an e-book costs 5-8€ isn’t bad, I think. But if it has many pages or the physical book is a little more expensive. But as prices as 10-14€ I find crass.

The prices are like them. In Germany, books are subject to book price binding. This means that these books have to taste the same everywhere. The exceptions provide books that do not come from Germany.

So would you recommend a Kindle E-book Reader or do you think I should continue buying normal books?

It depends on your needs.

If you find books, e.g. in English in a US shop (Amazon.com), then you save money. Otherwise, you have to consider what you prefer. However, the price savings should not be the focus.

What are the typical prices you pay for?

I read in Russian and buy my books mostly at Litres. There the books usually cost 3-6€. That’s pretty good. My Kindle Paperwhite is a blessing for me personally.

If you usually read in English, then a Kindle is definitely the right reader for you, because the offer of English ebooks is really huge. Especially since you are not limited to Amazon as the sole source of your ebooks in English (less than in German). Because every Kindle (and also any Kindle app for smartphone or tablet) has its own e-mail address, which is only set up on reception, to which you can send ebooks that you bought outside Amazon. For example, I buy a lot at Baen Books or Storybundle.com.

The best price/performance ratio for me is currently available at Paperwhite Signature Edition with 32 GB storage space and 6.8-inch display for 189 EUR. However, I would advise you to wait with the purchase – especially if you already have Amazon Prime anyway. On 8.10. and 9.10, the Prime Deal Days are at Amazon and it is not uncommon that the readers are then sold cheaper (sometimes clearly).

The Kindle currently has two (more or less large) disadvantages:

  • (1) It cannot use the onlibrary of the city libraries (which, since the Kindle epub files can also be read, is no longer due to technical restrictions, but is probably not politically desired) and
  • 2) there are currently no devices with color display (as opposed to Tolino/Kobo or Pocketbook). This fall may still change – especially since Amazon’s last device refresh has been 2 years ago – but surely it is not.

How much these drawbacks do you have to decide for yourself. It would be more important to me to have a really huge selection of English-speaking ebooks.
