Would you spend 40 hours in Shanghai?
Hey, let's assume you have the opportunity to spend 40 hours in Shanghai (regardless of whether you have to travel specifically for it or are already in the region). Would you say it's worth traveling to Shanghai for 40 hours? How much of the city could you actually explore?
That’s the point for me.
If I have to travel extra, no, it wouldn’t be worthwhile for me personally because I’m losing too much time for it.
If, on the other hand, I am close and can, for example, make a stopover, yes, then it is appropriate to have a short impression there.
How much you can explore depends on what you want to see. So how far things are apart, how long they are there and how long they spend there. Some go for example to a park, go through for 5 minutes, take some photos and go on, others want to stroll around 30 minutes, an hour or even longer and take a look at everything in peace.
40h is little time, at some point you will sleep and have to get back from the airport (or whatever you travel) first and later with enough buffer. You can see a lot of things when you are very superficial or a few less when you take time, but so or so it is enough to get a small first impression.
Sure. But I don’t like Shanghai especially. I’m too international and too expensive and I miss the Chinese flair.
Yes, especially since about a month to today, FURTCHTBAR has been so many tourists and visitors from South Korea, now in Shanghai there are South Koreans everywhere, almost in every corner:

I was never there but I would have the offer and it would fit in time I would definitely perceive it.
Sure, I’d do it right now.
Although there are cities in China that attract me more, such as Shenzhen, Beijing or Xian.
I’d find it worthwhile, but if I had the choice, I would extend the stay with 1 to 2 nights, because 40 hours are damn little for such a mega-Metropole.
No, no, no, no, no. I’ve got jet lag and I’d just sleep
I would definitely use it. of course depends on what the alternative is. but coarse are 2 days + 1x sleep. you can see something.
Waterfront, viewing platform, miniature model city, then there is an historic old town, shopping street/circumber and I would try to go really and authentically well to eat, so not tourists feeding in the hotel or snack on the promenade. Of course, you don’t have the opportunity so often.
Sure! Why not? Even if you’d only see a fraction of the city, it’s much more than if you’re zero std there!
I would like to accept such an offer
