Sore finger?

Hello, my question is, as you can see in the picture, I have a red finger. I cut two of my fingers yesterday when I was out in the grass using a piece of straw. The surface is now cracked and I put gel on it yesterday to clean the wound. Today I cleaned up, washed the dishes, used the toilet, vacuumed, and so on, and since I don't have any gloves, I treated the wound like this. My question is, it's so red now, could it be infected or is it just red because of work or could it be a sign of blood poisoning, because I always wash my hands straight away after doing everything and apply the wound gel. The wound I'm talking about can be seen on my little finger on the left where the gel is, the red may not look that red in the picture, but it is pretty extremely red around the wound.
