Would you ride with this saddle?

Short info: Purely theoretical

  • Age of the saddle unknown
  • Signs of wear under the saddle flap (heavy abrasions)
  • Probably not used for a long time (spiders on the lambskin, some dead spiders)
  • The accompanying girth is slightly rusty on the buckles (if the girth were to hang on the saddle straps, the vertical "metal rods of the buckle)

Would you like to ride/jump with him?

Update: I jumped with him and he held. Everything was fine.

What longer does it mean? Spinning weaving etc. has been hanging around after 4 weeks.
And saddle strap with a little grate on the buckles, all my straps… this is not a criterion.

No. A saddle should be properly adapted and fully usable.

When was he adjusted?

Checked in the last quarter? Otherwise, it is not adapted. It is not even suitable for eternity, but always and repeatedly tested whether the seasonal changes of the horse are so great that the saddle has to be revised.

If the saddle is tested by a sattler, adapted to the horse in a timely manner, nothing speaks against it.

Light rust at the buckles was not a rarity when you didn’t take care of the buckles perfectly. Don’t keep rust free.

Dirt and rust can be made away, even wear phenomena that are simply unbeautiful do not affect safety. Dangerous if the leather is already brittle or the belt no longer works as it should. But: in such old parts, the upholstery is usually hard, no longer available, whatever. This should never be done without testing by a person skilled in the art (Sattler) on the horse! The part must also be adjusted if it was no longer on the horse.

So I prefer to ride without a saddle. If still ride (This is relatively rare) then basically still him, I sat the last time 8 years ago in a saddle

Accordingly, I would basically ride without. I wouldn’t jump on it.

So there are several reasons

1. The horse of my acquaintances was too old

Two. I don’t like galaxing

And I prefer to spread it so comfortably and so I just found jumping like doof

Without a saddle, it’s just nix for the horse! Don’t really understand – if you want to ride, you’ll be smart and make it fit for the horse! It’s clear on a well-muscular horse MAL ok – without satte. MAL! The rider should be aware of what function a well-adjusted saddle has – namely, first and foremost, to distribute the rider weight flatly and to keep the spine free.

Why would it be more dangerous when jumping than riding out with the saddle?
