Wortendung nis/niß?
Hallo zusammen,
Mir ist aufgefallen, daß ich Wörter, die mit der Endung -niß (bzw. -nis), z.B. Verhältniß, Ergebniß usw. intuitiv mit “ß”, seltener auch mit “ss”, aber eigentlich nie mit nur einem “s” schreibe; zumindest Handschriftlich, digital werde ich dann immer korrigiert 🙂
Handelt es sich dabei evtl. um eine alte Schreibweise, denn im Internet konnte ich dazu nichts finden, und eigentlich bin ich noch ziemlich jung, es bliebe also nur der Fall, daß ich mir das ganze von irgendwoher (natürlich unterbewußt) abgeschaut habe.
Für Infos oder evtl. eigenes Wissen wäre ich sehr dankbar.

The writing with “-niß” is indeed very old and was abolished more than 100 years ago and replaced by the uniform writing with “-nis”.

Before 1876 it was (see Rolf) the normal spelling. Never seen in old texts.
Maybe you were in very old books, from the 19th. century and in fracture. Previously, words with the suffix -nis How Legacynis/Recognizednis written with “β”. After a legislative conference in the 2nd half of the 19th century, today -nis.
So you’ll have to reconcile yourself, because you’ve been writing for almost 150 years -nis (Plural: -No.).
I don’t have a word that ends at -nose (or -niss).
