Depends on what the game should be. Use therefore custom game engines.

Depends on what you have for Skills. This is really bad to say.

Minecraft, for example, is written in Java.

There are from match-three game to 3D shooter games complete in Javascript+HTML5.

Some games are written in C#, some in C++. I can also imagine that there are some in Python. Or any other programming language.

Again others are more or less clickibunti kit.

I want to say, consider what you want to develop and see if you can translate it into just your programming language.

Nintendo has on its consoles as far as I know its own development environments, to which it is not easy to get. Whatever.

That depends on the exact game. But modern games are built with dozens of tools, partly with specially programmed extensions. In addition to the game engine like Unity, UE, Frostbite etc., you need various other tools for modeling, texturing, animation etc and various extensions for physics etc. Add a whole set of program code, usually written in C++

You already mentioned it. As well as all games are programmed with Unity as well as Json and Dll files.

All right, just short: Dll are extension files for a .exe application
