How do I know which training would be best for me?

First of all: In my current training search, I have so far (only) applied for training as an IT specialist for system integration or application development.

But now I'm starting to have doubts about whether this is 100% the "perfect" training for me.

About me: I've attended a one-year vocational school in information technology and really enjoyed most of the things I did there. Accordingly, I've already gained some basic experience there. My (career-relevant) interests are IT, design, politics, and history. My best subjects were math, information technology, politics, and history. I'm a good student and at times was even one of the best in my class in the aforementioned subjects. However, due to illness, I was unfortunately only able to obtain an extended secondary school certificate (Hauptschulabschluss) and would like to complete an apprenticeship and obtain a secondary school certificate (Realschulabschluss). (I would possibly do a Fachabitur (university entrance qualification) afterward and then go on to university, but I'm still undecided about that.)

The problem is that I rarely do anything in the area of system integration in my private life and have never programmed outside of school, although I really enjoyed the latter in particular.

I enjoy creating and editing images on my computer, and previously on my phone as well. I've received a lot of praise for my images on social media, and at school, the teachers are usually enthusiastic about my posters for the student company, and I've received mostly positive feedback on my PowerPoint presentations.

I also actively follow politics and read up on many current events in Germany and abroad. Among my friends, I'm practically a living newspaper.

Now to the resulting problem: I don't know which of these directions I should focus on or prioritize.

I'm not sure whether an apprenticeship as a digital and print media designer would be right for me, or perhaps another IT apprenticeship such as a business administrator for digital management, but perhaps a marketing apprenticeship would be more suitable. I'm not aware of any apprenticeships in politics or history, as far as I know, most people pursue them through university studies. (As mentioned above, university studies are only relevant to me in the future.) Perhaps there are apprenticeships that I'm not even aware of yet, but that are more in line with my interests.

As you can see, I'm unsure and thinking a lot about which direction I want to go, hence the question mentioned in the title. How do I know which path is "the right one"? How did you make your decision? Perhaps someone has some general tips to make the decision easier.

Thank you very much in advance to everyone who has read this text and is willing to give me advice or try to help. 🙂

Perhaps a study in journalism would be useful and a previous internship at a newspaper, perhaps an IT journal or, for example, at the GEO. There you can also watch the media design.

Please look at this and do the test (can you interrupt / save)

Planet-Berufe.de/ Strengths and Skills

In the end, you will receive recommendations

Make it with my students for years (even my test has recommended my first chosen job – then college/study)

For a main student you are already very committed, active and eager.

Therefore, I don’t wonder why you haven’t had the middle maturity long ago to do a lesson after that instead of just doing a lesson with the main school degree.
