He comes from earlier than reading and education were less widespread and mainly scholars or prosperous humans wore glasses

Because there is a positive statistical correlation between short-sightedness and intelligence.

For the first time I wrote correlation NOT causality. – But it is basically possible that certain genetic expressions occur more and more with other specific genetic expressions. For example, schizophrenic people are often above average intelligent.

This ancient cliché is simply not dead.
Presumably, this still comes from a time when most of the mistakes have remained undiscovered and the vast majority of people have only worn glasses if it was not possible at all – I could imagine that strikingly many who had to do professionally with texts were seen at their work with glasses and that could be the case with high academia (for example lawyers, teachers, etc.)

In my opinion, it is totally insane to form a verdict from the presence of glasses, as malvisibility is based on genetic preconditions and not just a high level of education. Anyone who has no reason for short-sightedness is also not short-sighted by excessive reading and there are as many highly educated people who do not need glasses as there are also poorly educated people who are ill-sighted.

By the way, most professors at my university do not wear glasses and many of those who do it, because of age-sightedness, which at some point meets everyone.

I am even relatively short-sighted, but it cannot suffer at all if comments, such as “You see mega smart with your glasses” or similar come. If someone thinks I’m smart, he’s not supposed to appreciate it by wearing glasses.

smart people (especially in films) wear glasses?

It is best to use glasses without recognizable strength – main thing ne glasses in the face and thus the cliché serves 🤣. In this context, I also find that the actors who are supposed to look rather stupid, will be happy to be equipped with glasses in plus-strengths, making the eyes appear larger if someone makes the effort not to use plan glasses, while Streber are preferably represented as a short-sighted.

That’s right, that’s what’s in it.

A glasses can already give an intellectual appearance.

A glasses are needed for good vision and correspondingly demanding, more accurate activities and reading. Simple work could be done with a worse view. This relationship exists at least in relation to previous times.

Because smart people used to be so smart that they can see better with glasses. They were so smart, thinking that bad seeing is a punishment of God, being nonsense.

Probably because more prosperous and thus educated people can afford glasses.

Who reads a lot has a higher risk of being short-sighted and forming at the same time.

I think it’s from the Middle Ages. At that time only specially educated people could read. The first glasses were therefore used by highly respected people who could read.

Whoever reads a lot will notice very quickly whether he/she needs glasses. If you only have to read very little for your profession, you will hardly wear glasses even if your eyes are bad.
