Tire trading. Look at the local offers, either in the newspaper or with Google.

I would not go to the VW workshop until all other workshops say no.

You can also buy the tyres online and then search for a Doofen that mounts them to you.

Where it’s worth it. 17 inches is by the way only one indication of many on the tire. That’s a little help.
