Yes, where freight trains usually go as needed… also do not drive according to a fixed schedule or on a fixed route (of course there are also exceptions such as trains, Sylt shuttles, etc…) but there are routes on which you can observe frequent freight trains. Although many freight trains travel at night, there is also enough a day…

I can guarantee you: a very large part (and certainly the majority) of the transporting freight trains has a fixed annual schedule with fixed days, times and always the same route. Except of course redirections due to construction work

Mostly nobody knows that. Freight trains usually drive as it just fits. This can be an hour before scheduled departure, but also 3 hours later. It is best to find a railway station where freight trains also pass through and wait there. What area do you live in?
