In principle, your father is right. To save money, it is indeed advisable to change the internet provider every 24 months. Because new customer offers are usually significantly cheaper than contract extensions.

However, the Internet contract should not be terminated. That’s what the new provider does. Besides, you should always port the phone number even if you don’t need it. The background is that you have – and only then – a right to further care if the change does not work.

Hello, my father thinks he can make his Wi-Fi contract every 24 months, makes sense?

Your father seems to have no idea of technology if he believes to have a WLAN contract. There is no such thing and Wi-Fi can be wonderfully at home without coming to the internet. However, he has more knowledge of contract law, because contract terms for contracts via an Internet connection are often 2 years and can then also be terminated at the end of the contract term.

Personally, however, I usually don’t see any sense in the continuous change mode. DSL gets technically almost exclusively through Deutsche Telekom’s lines, even if there is another provider on the bill, and cable contracts are technically almost completely switched over Vodafone.

It is possible to do this, but it has the disadvantage that the new contract usually has 2 years of service. After 2 years you have a monthly right to terminate.

And there are no Wi-Fi contracts, Wi-Fi provides a Wi-Fi router.

You probably mean internet contracts, that’s a difference.

Wi-Fi is pure radio technology that is standard when a router is in the house.

Your father talks about the Internet connection, which has a contract term of 24 months as standard for each provider.

Announcing this always makes sense because the current provider then always offers better conditions.

Half a year before the end of the day, there are better conditions.

I’ll do that with my phone.

Wi-Fi is not available. Just turn on and off. You probably mean DSL or a comparable Internet connection. And yes, you can announce that every 24 months. I’d be too sweet. And the savings are pretty low. Especially when there are “single” connection fees.

And then, if necessary, return the whole tin top with router, free-switching, porting…

There is no contract for WLAN. Many providers give free Wi-Fi routers to the Internet connection anyway.

And if not, a simple Wi-Fi router costs less than 30€ – no contract is worth it. You simply buy it yourself and then have free Wi-Fi without a contract.

So if you have an extra contract for Wi-Fi, I would cancel it completely. That’s unused money.

Your father probably confuses internet and Wi-Fi.

And yes, it makes sense to terminate the internet contract at the end of the minimum term.

Do you have to check if it really gets cheaper, which is unlikely

Yes, they will make a good return offer
