Which method and which product should I use to extend my WLAN?
Hello folks,
I'm very unsure about buying a repeater and wanted to know which product would be better for the FRITZ!Box 7530 router. A 1200 or 2400 repeater? The router is in the living room, and I want to extend the Wi-Fi connection to another floor. If I go up one floor, I get 3 bars of reception at the door of a room. But when I enter the room, I only have 1-2 bars. So, could I plug in a repeater next to the door to extend the Wi-Fi? I have an outlet next to the door. I just took my phone closer and I actually have full internet reception.
Now I come to the second question: Should I plug the repeater into this outlet or into another outlet further away that has a CAT 6 socket next to it? Because there's also a socket with a CAT 6 connection next to the router downstairs in the living room.
Yes, you can wireless place a WLAN repeater on the door on the upper floor (OG1). So operate in the OG1, where the WLAN signal of the router can still be easily received halfway.
The WLAN repeater will receive the WLAN of the router and radiate the WLAN with 100% signal strength on the upper floor.
YES, right, BESSER is when the WLAN repeater Wired can be connected to the router via LAN cable. Just like you’re describing, use LAN connection over the laid LAN cable in the wall. The WLAN repeater then provides maximum speeds in the WLAN in the OG1. This mode of operation of the repeater is called Accesspoint.
Conclusion:
It is either wireless or wired. It’s always better connected.
If an entire floor (OG1) is to be supplied with WLAN, I would rather use AVM’s larger WLAN repeater. Larger repeaters have greater range.
This is how it is done:

PS:
You can even use a used WLAN-FritzBox as a WLAN access point or repeater, so it does not have to be a WLAN repeater.
Good luck!
I left my old FritzBox7430 in the basement. I had to buy a new one because the 7430 is too weak. Can I start with this?
Super, they can use!
The FritzBox 7430 can even be Mesh repeater to be set up. Mesh means seamless WLAN with the same WLAN name in the entire WLAN area of the “Mesh System”. A mesh system is centrally managed in the mesh master (7530). The further LAN connections (LAN2+3+4) at the 7430 are also fully usable in OG1.
The FritzBox 7530 is then the mesh master (this is the basic setting) and the FritzBox 7430 can then be set up as a mesh repeater.
Thus, the FritzBox 7430 is set up as a mesh repeater for your OG1.

Good luck!
To ask two first, if you set the repeater next to your router, then it doesn’t bring anything.
Don’t you have a network connection on the top floor that’s free? Once we talk about distances where walls, ceilings, walls, doors or other are in the way, Wi-Fi is always banana. If the signal and the throughput are still strong at the top of the door, you can hang the repeater, which is not a guarantee that it will be better in the room world-wide. As soon as the door is closed, you have a disturbing object in the way that deteriorates your WLAN signal.
Therefore, the cleanest and best solution from the router would be to put a network cable up and to work there either directly with LAN, if a device is to be fixedly connected or to set an access point.
The 2400 can take to bridge more distance, the 1200AX keeps the AX standard with what brings you more when you have WiFi 6 capable devices.
Thanks for the answer. Maybe I was wrong about the second question. I meant that I would like to connect the router in the living room with a LAN cable to the CAT connection. The connection is next to the router. The repater then accordingly 1 floor higher by adding other rooms and also connecting them to the CAT connection. There is also a CAT connection.
