I think people have a reason why they are afraid of spiders.
They find them creepy or disgusting. Especially in films, spiders are presented as evil, just like the wolf.
Because spiders are disgusting. So I don’t want to see a spider crawling over me 💀 so I think many are afraid of such spiders, bugs and stuff. But is also understandable

Don’t be afraid of spiders, there are also guys who panic.
Small spiders are the most poisonous. It seems to me that you have no idea and that you had been selected 1000 years ago. A spider phobia is present in many people because spiders are uncontrollable and were often poisonous earlier.
Here in Germany there are no poisonous spiders 💀 at least none that can become dangerous to humans. So there’s no reason to panic out of the room or something.
If you live in the USA or Australia, I’d understand.
It is strange that in areas where there are really dangerous spiders, people are less afraid of it, a spider phobia is much more common in our western well-pamped areas where there are as good as no dangerous spiders.
What completely disproves your theory of natural selection.
Fear of spiders is therefore not directly associated with the actual danger, but is caused by cultural factors, which one gets pre-lived by parents, how is the subject treated in public / medial etc.
So it is completely wrong that a spider phobia has any protective function and would have led to a natural selection, according to the motto “who has more fear of spiding lives longer”. In a spider phobia it is an irrational anxiety disorder.
