It works
If you should meet a wolf (which is really very unlikely) turn around and walk away slowly and calmly. Only a sick animal would approach you to really dangerous distance and if that were to happen, an animal repellent spray could be useful. Nevertheless, remember how rare this is and do not worry about it.
