For the current rescue (and also as a super-solid OS) I recommend downloading Linux Mint Cinnamon to the manufacturer and embed the ISO to the pen.
Mint is more user-friendly than the company-oriented Ubuntu.

Linux comes clear with all file systems, even with XP, I have often tested that.

I would install mint directly as an operating system, as it is significantly more resource-saving and better equipped than W10. W10, by the way, only runs 2 years, then the oven is out. I’d save the crap with the Win Buy license and the drivers. W11 will never run on the computer, that is another user training of MS.

To easily connect a SATA plate to a running PC via USB, I have set an ICY box.

YouTube shows how easy the handling of Mint is (like Win7).

Can also just put another record, install mint and overtake the required files with the ICY box. With each altar calculator, a hard disk remains, which can then be used as desired.

Alternative remote diagnosis:

Hard disk broken.

Live OS is usually loaded into the RAM and does not need any hard disk. It will probably have a reason why your system no longer works and that’s exactly what it will be.

Interesting.

What does this “test” look like?

I don’t know

However, I don’t know if Windows 10 will run on it (liquid) because the computer is probably old, I suppose?

What do you mean? If you had Windows 10 instead of XP? Usually yes.

either that or it’s up to XP because it is ancient and maybe uses other file systems, file types etc. I don’t know.

I know. But there are thousands of different live Linux distributions. Try another distribution.
