Remove Windows 11 Home device encryption?

Hi, Windows 11 Home has device encryption (not Bitlocker). This was enabled on my laptop for the internal SSD. However, I recently changed the internal SSD. Now I want to continue using the old internal SSD externally and don't know how to disable device encryption on it.

on Windows 11 Home there is a device encryption (not Bitlocker).

No – there is one Drive encryption. …and this is in principle Bitlocker – only with fewer options.

Now I would like to continue using the old internal ssd externally and therefore do not know how to disable device encryption on it.

Go to the Disk Management – delete all partitions on the SSD and place new ones.
All data on the SSD are lost – but what do you do backups? 😉

Not from VeraCrypt-encrypted disks.

BitLocker is the Microsoft’s own “VeraCrypt” – it also supports the TPM 2.0 – i.e. you don’t have to manually enter a password when booting. You can set it that way, but you don’t have to.

Microsoft also stores the so-called emergency recovery key in the Microsoft account. This is a reason why you have to set up a Microsoft account in / after installation – and only then local user accounts: Too many lay people wouldn’t print out the emergency key and lay away well. 😉

The difference to VeraCrypt is: As long as you have the password and/or the emergency key of the BitLocker partition, you can use for example Hasleo Data Recovery also save the data from BitLocker-encrypted partitions. (Important: Look at the program variant – not each includes BitLocker!)

The problem today is to find data recovery software that can handle encrypted partitions – with BitLocker I have only known that of Hasleo – with VeraCrypt I am questioned what the emergency CD can do.
