Monitor which programs are opened in Win 10?
Hello everyone,
For storage reasons, I have several external HDDs on my PC, on which my games and some music are stored. Therefore, I'd rather not disconnect the hard drives – I want them to remain permanently connected.
Now for the problem: I keep getting freezes in my games because something in the background is accessing the hard drives, which then have to boot first. This keeps getting me kicked out of online games, which is especially annoying during longer RTS battles.
Is there some kind of "spyware" or built-in tool in Windows 10 that allows me to see exactly which program is being opened or which files are being loaded onto the hard drive so that I can specifically move them or uninstall them if necessary?
Thanks in advance!
Once again, saving program/game resources that need to be quickly loaded on an EXTERNAL hard drive is complete bullshit. You will be throttled to the speed of the USB interface. You have nen pc, then install more internal storage via sata or m2. And what “boot” means you should also look thoroughly.
Unfortunately, I had no possibility to expand the memory internally at the predecessor PC, so the external ones that I want to continue using at the current one have accumulated. I don’t have any games on it where it comes to any charging times. This is simply about the practical use as a mass store.
You’re right about booting. I meant that the HDD is in some kind of standby mode and restarts when accessing the disk when you understand what I mean. In the couple of seconds, my game will freeze (installed on ner M.2 SSD via Steam) and it will make me out of the online game. Therefore, the question of the appropriate way to follow what is precisely the reason that the HDD is starting.
You can disable selective usb energy saving. I still recommend you to build the plates in the pc and hang on sata.
Just googlet and deactivated. Check this out during the week to see if the hard drives are running consistently.
Despite everything, it would be nice to know what exactly wants to access the hard drives while I’m playing.
