Will Zalando return the shoes to me if my complaint is rejected?

Hello everyone.

Seven months ago, I bought two pairs of ankle boots from Zalando and now I've filed a complaint via the app. Zalando is asking me to return the items so they can investigate.

If the claim is rejected, will Zalando send me the ankle boots back since I'm the owner? I'm asking because they're still wearable, and I think they're great.

If they refund my purchase price, I could simply buy new ankle boots. They're still available, but they've become significantly more expensive.

Do you have any experience with Zalando in such cases?
