Will the vehicle value increase?

Hello

A few weeks ago my father bought a Ford Escort RS Cosworth with body parts for 130,000€ which was built in February 1992, so one of the first,

Let me list the special features:

  • February 1992 Built in Rheine
  • 1992 Sold in Germany (invoice available)
  • 1993 Engine tuning and overhaul at Cosworth in England, red valve cover, T04 turbo, Sierra RS500 intake manifold, pistons and connecting rods etc. (281Hp measured at Cosworth)
  • 1995 in the workshop where the Escort was bought with Ford Motorsport suspension parts Modified for 11,750 Deutsche Mark
  • In 1999, original body parts for a 1998 Ford Escort Cosworth WRC were discovered, which were rumored to be spare parts for Carlos Sainz's Escort.
  • until 2002 (up to 23,500km) maintenance, done at Ford, but then every two years until 2018
  • 2006 by Mountune England on electric ignition and stainless steel exhaust on turbo without catalytic converter, of course equipped with improved engine control unit (324Hp)
  • Sold to dealer in 2023 with all parts except the original connecting rods and pistons. (31,700km)

So up to us 1 previous owner and a dealer

Do you think the vehicle was worth it and will it retain its value or increase?

Do you think the vehicle was worth it

When you consider what beautiful and elegant vehicles you can get for this money…

For your father the car was worth it, for me it wasn't.

I also doubt whether the car is worth investing in.

Hi Nathan,

Ob dieses Kfz seinen Wert wirklich Wert ist bleibt dahin gestellt.

Ohne die Zertifikate und Belege eher nicht.

Even without any modifications, I think the price is ridiculously high. He'll probably never get that back, let alone more… I suspect it'll be difficult to even get half of it back if he sells it.
Who would want a vehicle like that? Most people who might be interested won't have that kind of money to spare, and those who do have enough money to spend on a car are more likely to buy other models.
Let's hope that at least your dad enjoys the car now and that the purchase price, which is more sentimental than realistic, doesn't hurt him too much. Then at least it's fine for him – it's certainly not going to be a valuable investment anymore, especially since it's no longer original…

It's no longer in its original condition but has been modified, even though it now has more power.

It's like the 1 Series GTI.

Lowered with spoiler and sills 3000-5000€
Original condition up to 30,000€
