Will the money arrive by bank transfer if ONLY the name was read incorrectly by the Sparkasse machine?

Hello, I made a transfer a few days ago and only now realized that the Sparkasse machine misread only two letters of the person's last name, but the IBAN and intended use were all correct. Does the name have an impact on whether the money reaches the person, or is it only important that the IBAN and intended use are correct?
I urgently request an answer

That depends on whether your savings bank has already implemented the new EU directive or not.

In November 2023, the EU decided that name matching would be required again. A transitional period is still in place, but some banks have already implemented the future directive and will be matching names again. Because they will soon have to do so anyway:

https://www.consilium.europa.eu/de/press/press-releases/2023/11/07/instant-payments-council-and-parliament-reach-provisional-agreement/

Under the new regulations, instant payment service providers must compare the payee's IBAN with the payee's name to alert the payer to any errors or potential fraud prior to a transaction. This requirement also applies to regular transfers.

So in a few months, all banks will have to perform name verification again anyway. I know from N26, for example, that they're already performing name verification again. I don't know whether your local savings bank has already implemented the new, future directive. You'll have to check with your savings bank about that.

The IBAN is crucial

The exact name isn't important. Spelling mistakes, abbreviations, or even scanning errors are fine.

The IBAN must be correct. Anything else won't be checked.

The intended use is only of interest to the payment recipient.
