Will I lose the warranty if I replace an SSD?
Hello everyone,
I bought a laptop from Mediamarkt about five months ago ( Acer Aspire A514-54 ) and now I want to replace the 512 GB SSD with a 2 TB SSD . However, I'm not sure if the laptop's warranty will be voided if I replace the SSDs myself, which is why I'm posting here. Does anyone happen to know anything about this and can answer my question?
I would be very happy to receive an answer…
What are you talking about?
Do you think the 2 years legal warranty? This is not the guarantee!
And it doesn’t fail when you open the device or replace components. It then extends only to the remaining original parts.
AND -> If the error was caused by non-technical installation of a component, the repair goes to your cap.
Are you talking about the guarantee? This is offered by most manufacturers today as a paid additional service. The contract documents for this warranty also provide details of what you can do and what not.
Open housing NOT leads to extinguishing warranty or guarantees!
As the owner of the device, you are well entitled to clean the device regularly. And that doesn’t work properly if you don’t open the devices.
Okay, in this case, I’m talking about a two-year legal warranty.
Consequently, no one is interested. Upgrade and component exchange is quite allowed.
Hello,
either you let this go through your local media show,
or you lose the two-year warranty.
The warranty refers to the overall device,
and it comes to the cause.

Thank you.
Hello,
If the Harware is designed so that you can replace components, you can say awkward, that is part of the device. Just like expanding RAM or adding optical drive. If you cannot open the device, stickers would have to be attached to the screws that indicate.
However, if you want to claim the swapped SSD, of course it is not possible. They’re doing the first.

As a rule, the manufacturer warranty expires as soon as the housing is screwed on.
Yes, I believe, however, I had already read among other contributions that it can also be that the guarantee remains.
Then read in the warranty terms, then you know exactly.
No, not if it’s just about installing an additional SSD, that’s a normal scheduled upgrade.
For cleaning, the device is also opened, for example. This is under maintenance and is covered by the warranty, at least in computers.
Yeah, screw up = loose.

However, I do not create an additional SSD, but exchange it for another.
The Warranty provisions are set by the manufacturer and if it says that when the device is opened the warranty will expire, then that is so and you can’t change it!
Okay, thanks
It doesn’t matter because it describes the same wall.
Then, however, stickers would have to be on the screws that tell you.
This is a common method that can be found in many computer components.
In addition, it would be almost scandalous if a manufacturer would do this because it is right to clean his own device.
