Will I get my money?

I sold an item on eBay two weeks ago… Since then, my money has been withheld from the sale because the buyer wants to return the item, but insists they never chose that option. They don't know how to reverse the transaction and aren't responding to any of my messages. Will I still get paid the proceeds?

Hi 🙂

As long as the return request is open – No, the money will be retained until this is resolved.

It depends on the reason for the return request. If it's a cancellation (I don't like it, no reason, too expensive, etc.), you can decline and the request will be closed. If the reason is related to a problem (defective, not as described, incomplete, etc.), it becomes more difficult.

If the buyer doesn't know how to complete this – send him the link

https://www.ebay.de/help/buying/resolving-issues-sellers/status-ihrer-anfrage-zu-einer-rckgabe-oder-eines-nicht-refangen-artikels?id=4667&st=3&pos=6&qu ery=Status%20of your%20request%20for%20a%20R%C3%BCreturn%20or%20ofa%20not%20received%20item&intent=status&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1374

Then he clicks on the picture and ends the fun he didn't want to start.

If the buyer does NOT want to return the item and cannot stop the process, a call to eBay Support will help. Or, they can ask the support team to contact them: https://www.ebay.de/help/call_me?initFrom=HOME

Otherwise it is unlikely that you will get the money paid out.

So there is no right of return in private.

Have eBay call you.

Just click on Help, Customer Service and then "call me" at the bottom.

There is no right of return at all. Even a commercial seller only offers a right of withdrawal, which has nothing to do with a right of return.

However, eBay has its own rules, which have been accepted and which have nothing to do with the German Civil Code.

When shopping online, you can cancel any purchase within 14 days. This period begins as soon as you receive the goods. If the last day of the cancellation period falls on a holiday or weekend, the cancellation period ends on the next business day. If the goods are defective, you must first request a repair or exchange.

Replace the term "right of return" with "right of cancellation"; ultimately, it all comes down to the same thing. You can return items to the retailer online within 14 days without any problems!

You can easily return the goods to the retailer online within 14 days!

Provided the retailer offers a return. Unlike the right of withdrawal, they don't have to.

Report this to eBay customer service and ask what exactly happened. Then you'll know who was swindling you.
