wifi not working properly?

Whenever I test my wifi on different sites, it says at least 20 mpbs, but when I download something in the browser, on Steam or somewhere else without other things in the background, I get a maximum of 2 mpbs and not even 0.5 mpbs in the browser
Why? How can I change this?

Hello,

in addition to the already mentioned here:

I use the Free Download Manager.

It uses multiple channels to download and the greatest advantage is that you can download or if you break down, you will simply continue and not restart!

Best regards from Leipzig

Put a Lan cable, you have better speed. In general, WLan creates a high delay in many situations. This sometimes also makes itself visible from different bandwidths you have.

I’ll join the others.
Speed test measure the speed in megabit per second Mbit/s.

Downloads, as with steam, are specified in MB/s Mega Byte per second.

and 20 mbit are randomly 2.5mb.

What is possible under your WLAN conditions can only be detected by means of a speed test, for example: https://speedtest.vodafone.de/

If the download values are significantly lower for example on Steam, this can be due to the fact that the Steam server is overloaded. A wide possibility is that the connection runs over very long distances.
Sometimes it helps to cancel the download and reconnect to the server – or select a different time of day.

why?

I only have the usual answer and question: Speedtests usually measure the speed in MBit/s (also “mbps”), while download rates usually in MByte/s (including mb/s or MB/s). Since 1 byte=8 bits, the values differ by a factor of 8. Therefore, the question: Can it be that you do not consider the units carefully enough in the different actions/measurements and therefore assume a difference where no one is?
