Hello, I just put together my new PC and noticed that the WiFi adapter doesn't fit because the bottom fans are in the way.
So do I need the heatsink for the WLAN card or can I remove it since the card is being blown by the lower fans anyway?
The WLAN card is an ASUS PCE-AC56 Dual Band

Auf der anderen Seite ist das aber ein “Gaming”-Produkt, und da spielt Geld anscheinend keine Rolle mehr.
Vielleicht geht es ja wirklich nur um die Optik. Denn dass eine WLAN-Karte einen derart massiven Kühlkörper benötigt, wundert mich dann doch etwas …
Der Kühlkörper is tnur ca. 5mm dick aber das ist zuviel, 1mm würdd enoch gehen ist dann aber nur ne metall platte. Oder ich benutze mein Ethernet. Ist aber im download langsamer
Was hast du denn für ein schlechtes Board / Netzwerkkarte, dass Ethernet langsamer ist?
MSI B550 A-PRO und Ethernet angeschlossen an einen 5G Router der mit Glasfaser versorgt wird. Hab jetzt aber auch gelesen das man die kleinen Karten wie die Wlan karte auch in den großen X16 der grafikkarte machen kann. Geht das wirklich?
If you actively cool the chip instead, you can remove the passive heatsink, but it is important that the chip is cooled.
If the active cooling is too weak, it may fry the chip.
However, I would replace the existing heatsink with a new, smaller one to provide some cooling support. This would also provide some protection from external influences.

tatsächlich sind die meisten Kühlkörper auf
PCIe WLAN-Cards, mehr für die Optik,
als dass diese einen Nutzen bringen würden.
Muss man aber trotzdem auf gute Durchlüftung achten.
Am besten eine Karte mit einem neuen WLAN-Chip nehmen,
der nicht mehr so viel Wärme entwickelt.
