WiFi amplifier, how to use?

I have a Wi-Fi extender that I'd like to connect to my computer with a LAN cable, but unfortunately, I'm not sure if it will connect to my Wi-Fi network, as I'm not sure what the colors mean. If anyone knows how to check if it's connected (I tried using WPS) or has an online user manual for this product, I would be very grateful.

The setup of a WLAN repeater is always similar.

You have an Asian cheap thing, so a guide is hardly available. And often the device works unreliable with the WPS button.

A manual device, without WPS buttons, by browser is always possible. It offers you more control over which mode of operation the repeater is set up. These things can often be multiple modes of operation:

  • Router
  • Repeater (Extentder)
  • Accesspoint (AP)
  • Client

Since you want to plug in a PC via LAN cable later, you should have the Type of operation “Repeater” (Extender) choose.

Start writing the data from the nameplate. There is something like this: the address of the configuration page 192.168…. and user (oft admin) and password (oft 12345678 or none) and the WLAN key. Write it on a note.

Please don’t plug in a LAN cable first, this will only end when the repeater is fully set up.

start with a Reset. So plug repeaters into the socket just wait… and press the reset button (button or button in a hole with ballpoint pen/tooth). Wait…

Then the repeater restarts, and it appears a “strong” WLAN network, full 4 bars (see on your smartphone or with the PC after this WLAN).

Connect with this new WLAN network. The PC or smartphone reports “Connected, no Internet“That’s right.

Start browser now and call this web address 192.168.x.x (from the note). A login appears. Use the wizard to set up Repeater (Extender). Follow the instructions on the screen (you will need to specify your WLAN name and the WLAN key from your router). If everything is okay, the repeater will restart and “repeat” your WLAN. The LAN port (not WAN) of the repeater can also be used by the PC.

PS: In order to later retrieve the configuration page of the repeater, you need to find out the local IP address of the repeater (is in the WLAN router under network… subscriber, it will be something with 192.168.x.x).

Here at YouTube the procedure (with a similar repeater) is explained:

Good luck!

Here is a list after school notes from very good data transfer, to leave the fingers of it. Repeaters are 5. So I fell

But let’s start

5 repeaters.

Since normal, even the simplest speedports of Deutsche Telekom (some came from the A&V 20€) make good 12/13 m, most of them is pointless money.

Repeaters are often referred to as Wlan amplifiers in sale. That makes KD have little idea of matter, of course. Amplifiers are not permitted because of their massive radiation in D. Therefore, D-approved routers with full Wlan strength send. Repeaters only set up a new Wlan network. But what is problematic with simple repeaters.

You must

  • see the router what does not work by walls
  • To the router be far enough to not disturb each other (wlan hates Wlan)
  • close enough to get about 50% Wlan strength from the router.

You got an apartment. Then come from the neighbors around Wlan and then the repeater comes to it. There is less Wlan strength than without repeater.

It is completely senseless to pull a Lankabel to a repeater. Since he gets his access signal from the router via Wlan. And this is the needle tube.

Further sources of interference for the Wlan.

  • All other radio networks Wlan, Bluethoote, Babyfone, Alexa and her colleagues. Headphones without cable.
  • Microwaves
  • Steel ceilings
  • plasterboard,
  • Water pipes in the wall behind the router.
  • Walls, The Wlan mirror

How to connect your repeater with router and PC now, as where it belongs, in the user manual.

The better alternatives

1 Lan cable

is not beaten, perpendicular to the stairs or horizontally along the ceiling. Even the cheapest barbars have 2 grooves for cable guidance. There are now flat ones that fit into the door.

, For laminate it becomes more difficult. There you have to drill An option are strong magnets that there are in about (5mm) a few of them in a thin slice of a string. on the other side also those. then pull the cable carefully through the hole, then close it behind and then furniture adhesive film.

But not all door frames are massively foamed. If a page goes out there.

I want it to go upstairs. On a staircase you can trick a ed tape as safety light with motion detector over it. Or you put a knife plant and pull the cable straight up.

2 Accesspoint

can also be an old router, a repeater, which must then be set up. They get the signal from the router via a Lan cable and then output Wlan.

3 mesh

Is the more expensive but better variant of repeaters.

4 Dlan.

an adapter becomes a single one! plugged near the router and then gets the signal via Lan cable from the router. He sends this into the power grid of the second or more adapters then give you, no matter what power outlet from the house, Wlan.

It doesn’t always work. (here it is at point 4) but that it is an ingenious variant. You should try. Order adapter online, you have right to return.

Please make a correction: there are no WLAN amplifiers because they would not be permitted in DE. The transmission strengths are regulated/limited.

These are repeaters – now the thing becomes clearer because:

  • the amplifier must be attached as favorable as possible to the WLAN access point (meaning a frit), so that it has the best possible reception. He can’t forward what he doesn’t receive. Not at the PC.
  • Exception (it also gives): Repeaters who receive their signal via dLAN and radiate exactly where they are.

Means – depending on type – either look for a place where good reception from access point AND good connection to PC is

Or: Use dLAN

Good – you can find that in the user manual. I don’t know them.
