How much voltage does my car need to start the engine?

Hey dear community,

After a long weekend, I wanted to start my car this morning. Conclusion: the engine wouldn't start and the battery was deeply discharged.

After a friend jump-started the car, I drove for about 20 minutes, and now my battery has a voltage of 12.3 V. Since I've heard that batteries tend to discharge after a "long" period of inactivity, I wanted to ask you as a community if this voltage is enough for my car to start again on Wednesday? I've already been to my garage, and after a few measurements, they said the battery is in perfect condition.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

greeting

Philip

The voltage is not as important as the current that your battery still supplies. The voltage sometimes looks good – the current cannot measure a normal multimeter – it is even broken.

It is best to check from a workshop with suitable equipment. It is often even free.

if the battery is full, it should have a little more voltage.whether it is enough after some time depends on whether a consumer pulls something that you can find out with measuring

I’ve always been hanging on a maintenance charger in winter to make sure that the car starts at any time without problems, which is of course more problematic when you live in a rental apartment, but recently I accidentally saw a power bank, which can also be used for start-up aid – maybe you can also prevent the deep down landing with a (or two to change) commercial power bank.

It’s not necessary.

If the battery is in good condition, you only have to charge it once before winter.

I rarely use the car.

My experience with three cars, two new AGM batteries and two conventions says something else.

Even then.

Don’t do that. This is guaranteed to fall back to 12v or less.

Immediately after the charging, the measuring instruments show pretty much everything, only not the right value. He’ll drop after half an hour.

Check and charge battery.

Then I would trust the workshop
