  • Especially the Nazis considered certain groups, such as Jews and Slavs, to be inferior and justified their murder, regardless of their status as prisoners.
  • Soldiers of the Allies were often regarded as a threat to the Nazi ideology, which led to their murder.
  • There was the fear that trapped soldiers could pass on information about military movements or strategies.
  • The killing of trapped soldiers was sometimes considered a means to break the morality of the enemy.
  • In some cases, prisoners were shot as a retaliation for the killing of their own troops or for military failure.

Can give different reasons for revenge or because the person likes to shoot people at the trigger, so psychological reasons generally.

Sometimes it can also be pragmatic reasons, prisoners of war must be transported away and supplied.

Sometimes there were also appropriate commands, e.g. the Commissioner command.

I guess it’s one of the most common war crimes on all sides to shoot prisoners, resulting or seriously injured opposing soldiers and civilians.

This was demonstrated by all sides against the Hague Land War Law.

Once the frustration, then they may have been annoying, otherwise it will remain a war crime.

Maybe because of safety risk, you could not trust them or just command them quite typically ( hitler) who didn’t need a reason to kill someone

Because in war nobody asks why someone is being shot.
