Why does one of two kittens pee in both litter boxes?

Hello,

A friend got two kittens yesterday. They are 14 weeks old and she has a small problem.

The female uses both litter boxes, and the male uses neither. She told me that as soon as the male goes to the litter box, the female runs over. What could be causing this? Does the female perhaps not want to share the litter box(es)? If so, why, and what can be done?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

Usually you always have a toilet more than you have cats. So if you have 2 cats, you need at least 3 clos. If the one cat still defends their toilets, then even 4, you have to try.

She should get another toilet and see if it works.

At 2 cats, you have best 3 klos and they shouldn’t all be in one place. Cats don’t just get into a toilet, so it doesn’t all have their own. But with urine and cot, cats also mark what belongs to them and the cat is maybe a bit shy and doesn’t like to go to a toilet where she has already made it in and if he does it in, she may have to show that she pees there and not him. Create 3 klos and maybe clean more than 1 x daily and see how it works.

So I personally distributed 4 cat toilets in the apartment and that helps very much. If that doesn’t help, maybe wear the disturbing cat in another cat’s jam if it interferes with the cat again.
