Why is Hagen an ugly city and how did this come about?
I've been to Hagen a lot, and I have to admit that the train station district is anything but pretty. But the city center, the parks, and the surrounding nature are beautiful, in my opinion.
But I find the suburbs of Hagen, such as Hohenlimburg, even more beautiful.
How did Hagen become one of the ugliest cities in Germany?
Anyway, I don't think Hagen is as bad as everyone says.
Hagen, like many cities in Germany and especially in the industrial centers, was seriously damaged by the bombing of the allies. The city centre of Hagens was almost completely extinguished. After the war, the debris were removed and new buildings were quickly built which were appropriate. In addition, old, traditional buildings, which have survived the war completely or only slightly damaged, were not given any sympathy, especially when they were in the way of car-mobile roads.
