I created a full backup of my old iPhone on my MacBook a while ago. I now want to read an old WhatsApp chat included in this backup.
Can anyone recommend a tool or program for Mac that I can use to open the backup and read the WhatsApp chat? Open source and free is preferred.

iMazing can create and read WhatsApp backups. But I don’t know if it can read existing backups.

If I really don’t mind, it won’t work anymore. At the time, you could open the relevant files with a tool and then view the chats; These files are no longer easy to open. Probably there’s an encryption on it now so they can’t be seen by others who somehow picked them up.
