What was it like back then with the defunct supermarkets/discounters?

Plus there was not in my home region, that was all very small town / suburban and province in the real sense. There was already an aldi that opened the end of the 80s, a sensation.

ViVo (a cooperative similar to Edeka; “ViVo” stood for “Many Benefits”), Lichdi and of course Schlecker. The minimum just ran into Rewe, Tengelmann was just closed, but I was barely in there anyway. The store was uncomfortable. From a known Grosso I know it’s been a commercial farm, but it’s 25 years since I can say little to the staff. A fellow student did his training a little later, but was taken over nciht.

In ViVo we were often. There was a little business that led an older couple. They then just retired regularly or were around the 70-75 when they closed the shop – they just closed the door and then they stopped, people stayed in their homes then even further until they died. I knew both personally. There was no employee, at least I can’t remember.

When the Lichdi closed (here acquaintance of my grandma worked) I only knew that this one acquaintance of my grandma was still working for a few years later with an aldi who had been up and then retired. I didn’t know other Lichdi employees, I was too small and we didn’t go there often because the shop was unfavorable and was very tight – he wasn’t exactly inviting and the assortment was not worth the speech.

In my hometown there was another Edeka. I was in training and I liked to buy it. I knew all the employees personally and they all came to other Edeka families in the surrounding area under or there were offers from the director – and the mother of a friend was also affected, which then went to a baker as a seller. But the market leader did not do this and took life shortly afterwards, that was tragic.

Schlecker was always a special case. Key word “Sleeping Women” some googling. I can remember that some of my well-known Schlecker women from my home wanted to reincarnate in various “learning jobs” in the service sector around 2012/13, one was working in a higher position, for example, in a private postal provider, others were seen sitting at bakers or at the gas station in the “Kassenhäusl”. I worked in a publishing house at the time, we had some inquiries from former Schlecker women for well-paid jobs as a mediator, but I don’t know what happened.

I can even remember the story about the co op AG remember, that was a real scandal. The processes went to the middle of the 90s for years. That was even filmed in my knowledge.
