In itself, two are always sensible, optimally affected by different banks and in particular providers, if one has a malfunction, not directly both. Just when you travel alone, so there is no other person who might try it with their card.

Likewise, if one is broken, it is stolen (because it is optimally kept separately, e.g. one in the suitcase, one in the hand luggage, if you get to both well in case of emergency).

Visa and Mastercard generally have the best acceptance globally, but Amex is also good. Diners Club, for example, is often not accepted and is therefore less recommended.

In principle, one is enough, but better if you have both a VISA and a MasterCard if a system does not work.

The providers of international sales via prepaid credit cards such as Wise usually handle this best. Especially when you travel in different currency areas, you benefit from the fact that different currency reference accounts can be created. When using the card, it is then only attempted to burden the account of the corresponding currency. The other accounts cannot be used for payment.

When traveling to more than one other currency space, you also need more than one reference account. If you leave the currency space, you simply transfer the money to the next currency account.

The use of an actual credit card is recommended for rental cars, hotel bookings, etc. Personally, I am very happy with Amex. Acceptance is high here, especially in the USA. Visa/Mastercard may be more useful for other regions.

I guess that’s your credit. I’ve never had trouble.
