How many 50m lanes per swim training session?
I've been swimming twice a week for six months. I can now swim all three strokes: freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. However, I can only manage 12-16 laps at a time during a swim training session, and then I'm completely out of breath. Is that normal? I always alternate between swimming one lap of breaststroke, then freestyle, then backstroke, and then repeat.
12 tracks at 50 meters (sorry that you have a indoor swimming pool with 50 meters at all. Most have only 25 meters) this is just 600 meters (at 12 lanes) you swim at speed. (I assume, at least, that you go to speed).
If you’re just training for yourself, and you might have just got everything out of the internet, then it won’t surprise me that you’re so out of breath. Breathing technology is an important thing when swimming. And you don’t even get in the river if you really change all 1-2 lanes during one unit.
I hope you’re in a swimming club, because there’s something wrong with swimming technology when you teach yourself. On the basis of your guides, I can only assume that you are not in a swimming club, because it is not understandable for me that all the training units are in constantly changing the style.
Besides, it can also be subjective what is tempo for you. If you release full can as if you lay a 25 meter running sprint on a career and then the same expect to swim in long distances, it won’t surprise me that you think so….
