How much does a flight cost the airline?
I'm just thinking about it. Let's assume we have a long-haul plane that's currently on a 9-hour route and has room for 250 passengers. Let's calculate an average price of €400 per person. Then the airline makes €100,000 from flight tickets alone. But the fuel costs for 9 hours, plus the pilot and crew costs, plus the airport costs must be far more than the revenue.
My question to you: How do airlines make a profit, or rather, how much does a flight cost the airline? (Expenses only)
Read the best “Air Transport” by Conrady et al.
Many airlines don’t make any profits, but loss. That is why it is also assumed that in Europe only 6 airlines will survive or remain independent in the long term.
I mean to remember that kerosene now causes 30% of the cost. There are also much more costs than you mentioned, the aircraft e.g. In addition, charges are higher, the louder the aircraft is.
How do you know the kerosene price, the salaries of pilots and accompanying staff?
I don’t know, but it won’t be cheap.
Right. In particular, the rising oil price since the turn of the millennium makes the airlines difficult to create. In the past, only 10% of the costs for kerosene were incurred, and now more than 30%. But best read a book on aviation or aviation management. There you get a lot of information on salary etc. and how to calculate the cost of a flight, delimit etc.
in a doku of the lufthansa they once said a flight minute costs with everything around and around. 100€
Okay this would make 9h x 60 min = 540 min x 100€ = 54,000€ per 9h flight. Can that be so little?
You must also see that the price of the flight must also be paid to the two airports. that can be 5-15 euros per passenger udn airport.
Finally, his luggage is moved, loaded unloaded. etc.
