How much does a Mini Shetland pony cost (approx. initial purchase, monthly…)?
Heyyy
So, I (or rather, my parents have the decision) am considering getting a mini Shetland pony . I know you can't ride these little ones, but I really miss groundwork, walking, etc. How much does it cost, approximately (as mentioned above…) and what do you really need to get started? It's probably similar to a big one, but how much would it cost roughly?
I grew up on an Icelandic horse farm, so to speak, and learned the basics and more. I experienced a lot there and got to know the horses without actually riding. Later, I also rode and did agility exercises on the Icelandic horses… Unfortunately, they moved far away, horses and all, and I continued riding in a typical school stable… without any groundwork.
I really have enough time. That means about 2 hours a day, often more!
The Mini would be kept in a varied, safe open stable in the company of Mini Shetlands and would have daily (or so) access to a pasture or run with the others.

A Shetty usually costs no less than a big horse… the surgery is just as expensive. You just don’t have to buy hay because then horse needs excessively much because it’s 1,80m and you don’t need a saddle and therefore also no nerve with the satellites. Otherwise everything is the same, from the price.
The same as for a normal horse. From about 500€ to 1000€ or more per month.
The prices for the Shetty themselves are as different as for all other horses.
a usable, bred, healthy minishetty without hd and other inherited diseases (tooth misalignments, abnormalities of the atemweg, heart diseases, kidney failure, hd, periodic eye inflammation…), costs raw from 5,000 euro.
for the usual “snaps” one pays in the back because of astronomical veterinarian costs under dash much more.
A mini-shellty also costs about as much as a big horse. So roughly around the 500-600€ a month, depending on the region. Of course, that’s more expensive.
The bit of food and similar to the minis “saving”, then go for higher prices for hooves (minis are heavier and more strenuous to work due to their size, many take this extra charge), make teeth (same, as with hoof-shmied), custom-made (sometimes find suitable equipment in the size of the bar…), etc on it. Pensions for Minis often take the same price as for big horses, so you pay more for a mini than for a “normal” horse.
Plus minus 12 000 to 20 000 euros in the first year incl. Horse.(Normal Good Shett)
There are 3 000 to 8 000 euros each year. Depending on the equipment of the plant.
Emergency cases always run extra.
Monthly 500€
