How do vegetarians feel about mushrooms?
So, mushrooms aren't plants, but rather animals. So, do you (as vegetarians) think it's okay to eat them or not?
I know there are different types of vegetarians, and I don't think that eating mushrooms doesn't mean you're "true" vegetarians. I just wanted to know whether you think they're "considered" animals or not.
It could be that someone thinks that they are not really like animals and therefore eats them, and someone else thinks that they are not plants, so they must be animals, and therefore does not eat them.
Maybe you just don't care. But I'd still appreciate it if you wrote why.
And they’re not animals. So they are one of the vegans and just one of the vegetarian foods.

Well, purely from “leiden” and according to the principles of vegetarianism, hardly speaks about it.
Vegetarianism is a diet, so imho does not speak against suffering and yields, for example for leather, silk, animal experiments etc. I’d like to correct myself if I’m wrong!
That would be new to me. I always thought that vegetarianism was based on ethics in contrast to the abandonment of meat. So this is the approach. I’m not an expert myself. Thanks for the hint!
All vegetarians and vegans I know eat mushrooms. Even though they are closer to animals in the systematics than to plants, they are so far away from both that an independent kingdom is legitimate. You eat only the fruit bodies, where mycelium is likely to be difficult 😉.
For me as a vegetarian, a mushroom is not an animal.
Greetings
The mushrooms we eat are just the fruit bodies.
Like plants, mushrooms, i.e. the mycelium, are not prone, so don’t argue about eating them, even for vegan living people.
However, if an esoteroid belief or a desperate ideology wanted to force me to argue that planks and mycelium should nevertheless be regarded as suffering, the consumption of both fruits would nevertheless be uncritical.
Mushrooms are not animals and therefore vegetarians and also vegan mushrooms can eat.
mushrooms have no feelings, it’s okay to eat them. They are as little plants as animals
I eat mushrooms.
Mushrooms are not animals.
I never claimed.
They are not really similar to animals, but rather plants.
Currently one strongly believes that animals and mushrooms are sister groups. Even if mushrooms look more like plantations, they are closely related to animals. That’s why I asked the question.
