For a backup you can use almost any common program; if it should only be unique or it does not matter to speed and nothing should be compressed, even COPY or cp from the command line.
If you don’t want to reinstall the system, I’d clone the plate. Go to the emergency (under unixoidal systems) dd, but I would do this only with identically formatted partitions (size, cluster size, inode number, …). Or maybe Clonezilla.
Kaputt does not go a SSD of such things in reading operations anyway and in writing only if you exaggerate it. (Billige SSDs are much more susceptible here.)
For backups of files I prefer rsync, and for complete volumes – more rare – I take dd.
Periodic automatic backups are based in any case rsync and file system snapshots: all systems are based on a replicator that only reflects current state, and this in turn goes periodically into incremental backups.
Snapshots take place, depending on, hourly or daily, replication daily, backup also, with respective thinning while maintaining a weekly, monthly, annual version.
Your SSD isn’t doing this. It can be your operating system getting slower.
You’re not ruined.
