How long does it take for an existing team to warm up to new members? Or should I really look for something new?
Good evening. 🌇
I've been working in the new team for about two months. I'm the youngest member, and my colleagues have been working together for 10-15 years, so they're good friends.
At first, everything was fine. But then the situation began to change. At first, they became more distant, then came unpleasant questions like: "Have you even completed your training?" Then there were problems with training – more and more employees are refusing to take on the job. Unfortunately, there are no trainers, so I have to rely on them. I increasingly have the feeling that they're treating me condescendingly.
Then came the icing on the cake—they have a WhatsApp group and don't want to include me (even after a colleague asked).
The strange thing is that the team leader praised me for integrating well into the team. I thought he was joking, but he really does see the situation that way. It's completely twisted.
Today was the absolute highlight. An employee from another department approached me.
And I thought I was a lone fighter and asked myself (pityingly) whether there was anyone on my team who would stand by me.
It was very embarrassing for me because even other departments knew about this problem. Everyone knew about it – except the team leader, strangely enough.
I haven't been feeling well since this story. I cry after work, and today I even cry during work.
Now the question is: Should I ask this colleague if he knows the reason for this bullying?
And should I keep trying—maybe they need more time to warm up? Or should I look for something else?
P.S. I've only ever worked in large teams of 40 people, including younger members. I've never had any problems within the team before, so this situation is very stressful for me.
And I think a lot about what I'm supposed to have done.
Das ist bei jedem von uns anders. Hab Geduld, bevor du Entscheidungen triffst, die vielleicht nicht mehr rückgängig gemacht werden können.
