How do you apply modeling clay to wood so that it sticks?

I want to glue DAS modeling clay onto a wooden surface. Unfortunately, the clay just falls off. Or do I have to moisten everything with water? The manufacturer states that the modeling clay can be applied to substrates such as wood, glass, plastic, etc.

Does anyone have any idea how this can hold?

You could work small nails or screws into the wood and let something stand out. The mass can “hold” until it is dry.

Thank you.

Your idea is as well.

Now the questioner has some options he can try out.

I assume that the dry plywood removes the water from the surface of the modelling compound and therefore it does not stop. I don’t know if it would keep after a slight moistening of plywood. Model your items separately and then glue them to the wood when they are dry.

I’d try to grind the wood very rough. Or make it with acrylic or spatula if possible.
