How can I mirror a crochet chart/crochet piece?

This question goes to all crochet enthusiasts

I want to mirror some elements, does anyone have any tips for this?

Logically, you'd have to crochet the pattern backward? (But that doesn't seem to work, does it?)

I found a video where someone crocheted a small feather in Russian using a mirrored stitch. But it didn't help me. Only, I can now mirror this peacock feather. Maybe I can apply it to simple leaves.

Does anyone have any tips, maybe a video, a blog or a website that can help me?
