A conductor consists of atoms. The electrons now collide with these and thus lose energy and this is the electrical resistance.

In solid bodies the charge carriers (in metals are the electrons) encounter the stationary atomic hulls. Normally, the speed of the charge carriers is then proportional to the electrical field strength. Since the speed is proportional to the current and the field strength is proportional to the voltage, the current intensity is proportional to the voltage.
