How can I change my LAN connection?

My Wi-Fi network has a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz connection. Both connections have their own SSID. I want my PC to connect to the 5 GHz network via a LAN cable. However, when I plug in the LAN cable, it connects to the 2.4 GHz network. I want the LAN cable connection to run over the 5 GHz network. Is this even possible, and if so, how can I do it?

thanks in advance

The Ethernet connection does not technically depend on the 2.4 GHz or on the 5 GHz WLAN network; but is separated from both first. On the router side, however, all three networks should be bridged anyway.

If in Windows a designation of the “network” takes place after one of the two WLAN networks, it doesn’t matter and is also irrelevant.

Or what do you mean?

This connects to the 2.4 GHz network when the LAN cable is plugged in.

Yes, then s.o. Kurzum, Windows recognizes that it is the same router as the WLAN network and then simply uses the name of the WLAN network for Ethernet. If Windows are known several names of associated WLAN networks, it selects a random one.

Sure, you want to spark via cable. 🤔
Short and for lay people: Forget it! 🤷 ♂️

With my WLAN there is a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz connection.

Nay

Wlan is

W irelessL okalA re-N etal

A local Radio network

Your Wlan Router can 2.4 and 5GHZ

Lan is

L okalA re-N etal

A local radio network.

No cable can be plugged in air. The Lankabel goes from a Lanport to a Lan terminal. PC/laptop/TV.

Both connections have their own SSID.

However, it is only relevant for Wlan terminals. So phone, TV, laptops.

I feel like you don’t know exactly what you’re configuring.

WiFi is just wireless so without LAN cable (5 or 2.4 is no matter at this point).

Therefore, I guess (!) you just clicked through the wizards with WLAN, then found a LAN cable and now suspect that it would be faster to 5GHz because faster – that doesn’t happen.

  • if you want to use LAN cable: go into your network settings and delete everything that shows on one of the WLANs – this is not needed and confused only. After a reboot you have the best possible copper connection via LAN.

You take your LAN cable and put it in the PC and in the grid and you’re running the whole thing perfectly

the LAN cable is your Wi-Fi as it is not dependent on it, can even deactivate WLAN and yet your PC is connected to the internet thanks to LAN-KABEL

My PC should connect via LAN cable to the 5GHz network.

I can’t. How do you want to connect to a cable with a wireless network?

This connects to the 2.4 GHz network when the LAN cable is plugged in.

No, he doesn’t.

Is that all?

No.

Your LAN hasn’t. The 2.4 and 5 GHz are the frequency band of the WiFi. If you connect by cable, you don’t have a frequency band. You can easily change the name of the device in the router. You usually reach this via the browser at the address: 192.168.178.1

My PC should connect via LAN cable to the 5GHz network.

I can’t. LAN (cable) and WLAN (radio) are two different things.

2.4 and 5 GHz connections are wireless connections. They have nothing to do with a Lan cable. If you want your PC to work in the 5 GHz range, you need to leave the cable.

So if I’m not completely mistaken, the frequency at LAN doesn’t matter at all.
