Why do stimulant drugs such as amphetamine, cocaine or crystal meth trigger psychosis?

Why is that? Nothing psychedelic happens during a high. I always thought only mushrooms and LSD triggered it. Speed, for example, can be compared to strong caffeine, and that doesn't cause psychosis either.
