If you ask so generally, you probably don’t get good and meaningful and helpful answers. Basically, in the first six months, the trader must prove that the damage was definitely not present at the purchase. You don’t have to prove anything. What is it about, what product, what damage and when was bought?

It’s always about the burden of proof in these things. In principle, the person who claims must prove it.

If you can, it’s good. If not, it will be hairy.

If it’s a commercial trader and you haven’t been over 6 months since purchase, you don’t have to prove anything. Then the dealer is in the duty of proof.

In addition, or with the private seller, you have hardly any chance. An expert will have to answer that. Is that worth it?

By documenting the damage (which is actually?) at the handover and letting you confirm in the contract.

If you discover the damage only (many) later, it will be difficult to help an expert/author.

There is not DEN engine damage. What’s wrong in your opinion? Don’t let everything get out of your nose if you want help.

A “reality” is not a harm but a perception.

If you’d have to document on delivery.

Was the car mobile when buying?

After 4,000 kilometres, it does not seem very likely that a reviewer will be able to find out whether the defect was already present during the transfer or only after that. On all Faelle, this could be a rather elaborate thing that you have to pay for yourself if the result did not go out in your favor.

But the vehicle was driving, so no motor damage.

If you drove 4000km without any problems, how do you think the motor damage was already there before?

And then how do you think that the damage was already present when buying?

Experts can be found on Google/Phonebook/Gelbe pages. Search term “Kfz-Sachverständiger”

KFZ reviewer.

In the factory town or in insurance.

Then the motor damage was obviously only later. How long has it taken to the engine damage? How many miles did you drive?

Then, if only by means of an expert report.
